OAK LODGE SANITARY AND WATER DISTRICT BOARDS ARE DISCUSSING THE POTENTIAL OF MERGING
The Boards of the two Districts will begin meeting on the fourth Monday of every month beginning in October. The purpose of the meetings is to begin discussions and finish a discovery phase to determine the benefits and problems with merging the two Districts. The public is encouraged to attend the joint Board meetings which will be held at the Oak Lodge Sanitary District office, 14611 SE River Road beginning at 6:00 p.m.
A Financial Feasibility Study was completed by Donovan Enterprises in June, 2014. The study was contracted and funded by the Oak Lodge Sanitary District. The study concluded savings could be attained by merging the two Districts. The study showed that although rates would not decrease, the increase in future rates may be less. The savings are primarily attained by reducing administrative staff.
The next step is to hire a professional firm to complete the Discovery Phase of the benefits and detriments to merging the Districts. A Request for Qualifications has been advertised for the professional services. A subcommittee of staff and a Board Member from each District will review the qualification proposals and make a recommendation to each Board to approve the most qualified consultant. This is planned to take place in October with a consultant selection being made no later than November, 2014.
