Oak Lodge Water District Customer
There are two parts to your water bill. One is the “base rate” which is established to ensure the basic operations of the District can occur. The base rate includes all maintenance, operations and administration costs the District incurs.
The other part of your water rates is the consumption of the water you use. The consumption rate is the portion that is charged based on the one-hundred cubic feet of water that you use.
Oak Lodge raised the base fee portion of your water bill. The consumption portion was not changed. The District had not adjusted the base rate for well over a decade and this forced the District to draw heavily from the reserves that had been built up.
The District has made many improvements to distribution system and completely rebuilt the two pump stations in the system. There are still many improvements that remain to be completed. These improvements were and will be funded from reserve funds but because the reserve funds were being used to fund the basic operations of the District an increase to the base rate were necessary.
Oak Lodge Water District operates on a very tight budget, receives annual audits that have all been favorable and does everything it can to keep rates affordable for all customers.
